Marvel's Daredevil Season 3: 9 Villains That Should Appear

7. Sin Eater

There was a lot of speculation last week regarding the potential casting of Sin Eater for the next season of Daredevil, with That Hashtag Show having isolated a casting call that seemingly hinted at the character.

"[STEVE] 28-35, 5’9-6’1, Open ethnicity. An athletic but socially awkward FBI Agent, needs structure and rules to suppress the darkness inside himself. Athletic with medium build, responsible and resourceful, hair trigger temper. SERIES REGULAR."

In the comics, Stanley Carter is a former Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a member of the NYPD. After his buddy cop pairing goes awry and his partner is killed, Carter takes on the new identity of the Sin Eater - a character not all that fond of the whole 'right to a fair trial' thing.

He comes to blows with Spider-Man during the Death of Jean DeWolff storyline, in which it is later revealed that the character is in a drug addled state. Carter's taken into custody shortly after being exposed by Daredevil in that very arc, and while he's certainly more of a Spidey villain, the idea of a lethal vigilante running amok in New York has already been played to acclaim in Daredevil - it's a clear recipe for success.

Could the Sin Eater enter because of Murdock's absence? Maybe he's inspired by the Punisher? Who knows? He's a great character to include either way, especially if the show gets round to exploring other NYPD officers, like DeWolff and Dakota North. Better still, it could just enhance the chances of that much coveted Daredevil/Spidey team-up happening, so fingers crossed...
