Marvel's Inhumans Premiere: 8 Ups And 3 Downs From 'The First Chapter'
1. It Leaves You Wanting More
The job of any television pilot or first episode is to engage audiences and make them want to watch the rest of the series and, negative press aside, Inhumans absolutely accomplishes this.
It lays the groundwork for a fish-out-of-water story that's significantly different from others we've seen from Marvel before and has interesting characters to drive the plot along, including a competent, entertaining villain who very much has the upper hand at the moment.
How is Black Bolt going to get out of jail without causing mass hysteria? How is Medusa not only going to find Black Bolt, but also to adjust to life without her hair, which is the source of her power? What exactly is causing Karnak's issues with his powers following his injury?
Plus, how is each member of the royal family going to go about accomplishing their respective goals when Maximus' right-hand woman, Auran, is hot on their tail with backup while Maximus himself resides on the throne and is working to turn his subjects against the other royals?
All of these questions are enough to make invested viewers want to tune in to the series when it finally comes out on television, as this first episode was not only entertaining in its own right, but also set the stage for something with the potential to be brilliant.
