In the first episode, it is revealed that Danny can somehow phase his mind into an eagle, that he uses to fly around New York or something. It's not entirely clear but that's definitely the inference.

Surely this would have been a useful skill to have, say, later when he's attempting to infiltrate Hand's Chinese drug factory and wants to scope the area out safely? It's not like an eagle flying around there would be any less conspicuous than one flying around New York City...

Instead, this incredible power is put back on the shelf and never mentioned again, like Superman's ability to kiss away memories.
