Marvel's Jessica Jones Season 2: 10 Reasons To Be Excited
2. Public Enemy
"I've already killed someone.” Chilling words heard in the trailer, playing over a scene of Jess being subdued by police while Malcolm backs away fearfully. Whether Jessica means Kilgrave, Reva Connors, or somebody new is yet to be seen.
She's already in the public eye after her last act of justice in season one, which she got out of with skillful legal manoeuvring by Hogarth, and a dock full of witnesses. But with her history, and many people still sceptical about her story, or so fearful of super-powered individuals that they want her locked up regardless, it's sure to end up a bigger challenge for even the viciously competent Hogarth to handle.
Despite gritty violence being a staple in Marvel's Netflix-verse, Jessica's one of those characters most deeply affected by the deaths of those around her. Whether she's willing to fight for her freedom, or surrenders to the justice system from the guilt plaguing her actions (for Reva and Hope, if not Kilgrave), it's a decision that'll affect not just her, but a huge part of the Netflix-verse's socio-political landscape for super-powered individuals. It's an idea with a lot of potential, both exciting and terrifying to explore in future series.
