Marvel's Netflix Series: 10 Things You Need To Know

1. They're All Building To The Defenders

Apparently the endgame of the Netflix series is very similar to the endgame for all of Marvel's original superhero films. Just as those teased a slow build to the eventual Avengers film Luke Cage, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist will all cap off their series by teaming up for another, separate 13-episode run as The Defenders. Which is a somewhat less cool title. That's the current game plan, and it's how the shows have been structured since the very beginning. Which is kind of cool, because introducing these characters through series instead of films implies there will be more time to develop them and their supporting cast, while The Defenders will basically be like a thirteen-hour Avengers movie, examining their group dynamic and pitting them against a larger threat. Well, maybe. It's likely they'll still be dealing with a street-level villain rather than a Loki or Thanos €“ possibly even the Kingpin €“ but still, seeing them all team up is going to be ace. The Defenders also have a comic book precedent, albeit with a much different line up. A line up that often features Doctor Strange. Could you be seeing a goatee-clad Benedict Cumberbatch casting a spell over your Netflix queue soon? Only the Eye Of Agamotto can see such things...and Kevin Feige, probs.
