Marvel's The Offenders: 10 Things You Need To Know
Marvel has introduced four new shows to Hulu, and it's much stranger than you think!
The MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) will now have a sister universe to accompany it, again. Now that Netflix has officially cancelled The Defenders and the four shows that led up to it, Marvel has taken their intellectual property to a rival streaming service.
Marvel (owned by Disney) will become a majority shareholder of Hulu once the completion of the Fox/Disney merger. At the Television Critics Association press tour the streaming service announced that it will host four new Marvel animated programs: MODOK, Hit Monkey, Tigra & Dazzler Show, and Howard the Duck. All summaries of the TV shows come directly from Marvel.com.
In the same format as The Defenders (which seemingly followed the MCU structure), the four shows will culminate in what Marvel has branded a “special animated event for Hulu, ‘Marvel’s the Offenders.” There’s much more information to sift through, so click next to check out everything you need to know…
10. The Defender's Jeph Loeb Will Executive Produce Each Show
Jeph Loeb is Head of Marvel Television, as well as now executive producer of all four shows. Loeb has EP’d not only the five Netflix shows, but also FX’s Legion, ABC’s Agents of Shield and Agent Carter, as well as animated programs including Guardians of the Galaxy and Ultimate Spider-Man.
Loeb has this to say when the projects were announced, “We have such tremendous talent bringing amazing adult animation that's fun, fresh and fantastic. We're so excited for what's to come!” Adult animation? The phrase evokes thoughts of Family Guy, Bojack Horseman, Archer, and South Park, but it’s unlikely Marvel/Disney would allow that level of controversy in their program.
Loeb added that the four shows, “will form a team no one asked for - The Offenders (and wait until you see who the Team Leader is!)”
