Ask anyone what their biggest problem with The Defenders was, and their reply will probably include something to do with the Hand.
The shadowy ninja group have had a presence in the MCU since Madam Gao's introduction in the very first season of Daredevil, and they've gone onto make significant inroads into the MCU since. By the time Matt, Luke, Jessica and Danny had teamed up, however, they were pretty stale, and it became clear that the group - despite the presence of Sigourney Weaver - had overstayed their welcome.
Thankfully, the Hand aren't all that bothered by Frank Castle. Granted he did kind of kill a few of them a year ago, but still, the vibe we're getting from his solo series is that the MCU's mystical elements - as interesting as they are - won't be factoring into it. Instead, we'll be getting a story that'll focus on all the best bits about Frank Castle's past, so all's good really.

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
