Marvel's The Punisher: Ranking Every Major Character From Worst To Best
7. Curtis Hoyle
Frank Castle is a difficult character to write for. In a comic book, the fact that he's a solitary kind of fella works, but on screen a character needs friends to talk with and confide in. Enter Curtis Hoyle, a close buddy of Frank's from his military days and one of the few people who knows he's alive.
Though it seems slightly out of character for Frank, particularly the version from Daredevil, to go to a friend for help, Curtis is a nice addition to The Punisher's cast. He acts as the representative of Frank's better angels and also shines a light on a different kind of veteran from Frank and Lewis.
Unlike them, Curtis' leftover trauma from the army is physical, as he lost his leg in a bomb blast. Yet, though it's difficult some days, he turns his depression around to coach other veterans through the difficult period of adjusting back into society.
The only trouble with Curtis' character is that he becomes a bit of a 'damsel-in-distress' for Frank to save. Overall, though, he's a likeable guy who thankfully survived the season (just about).
