Marvel's The Punisher Season 2: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
7. Brett Mahoney
Detective Mahoney is one of the many supporting characters that freely passes between the Marvel-Netflix universe, with an appearance apiece in both Jessica Jones and The Punisher's first seasons. We're used to him only having a recurring role on Daredevil, though - which is what made his near-regular part this season so welcome.
In a show filled with increasingly morally grey characters, Mahoney offers a necessary alternate viewpoint. He's a genuinely good cop who deals in absolutes: Frank Castle kills people, therefore he needs to be stopped. Sure, his role is essentially an antagonistic one, as he often comes in between Frank and his plans, but you can't hold it against him as he's the only person on the show 100% doing the right thing.
But nothing is ever easy with Frank involved, as Mahoney himself says, and by the end of the season he agrees with Madani's plan to cover up Frank's murder of Billy Russo. It would have been interesting to see how his viewpoint over on Daredevil might have changed after this but... well, we all know that's not possible anymore.
