Marvel's The Punisher Season 2 Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

1. The Twin Storylines Never Gel

The Punisher Season 2 has two main plot threads running through it: one is the struggle of Billy Russo to discover what happened to him, and the battle against Frank that comes with that, and then there's the other side of the coin involving Amy and John.

It doesn't utilise these as having one main plot and one sub-plot, but rather attempts to tackle both of them as if they were the main plot, with less than successful results. It can never decide which one deserves to be the primary season arc, and so we'll get a bit of time where the characters all focus on one and then, quite abrupbtly, switch course and centre on the other plot thread instead.

The two never coalesce, and it means the plotlines can go what feels like an age without any development, before circling back around to it and leaving the other stall it.
