Marvel's The Punisher Season 2: What Does The Ending Really Mean?
5. Amy Has Her Life Back
Life back perhaps isn't the right time. It might be more straightforward to simply say that, thanks to Frank, Amy now has her life. She's been living without freedom for too long, but is sent on her way (with a wad of cash to boot) in the finale.
It's a touching end to the sweet relationship that develops between Frank and Amy, which gives the former a chance to once again act as a father figure, with Amy roughly the same age his own daughter would've been. Like with Micro in the first season, we get to see how she has changed Frank, and how his actions can impact others too, and how he can be a positive force for change as much as a destructive one.
The door is very much left open for reconciliation later down the line - much as it is with Micro - although the fact the show will probably be cancelled means it's unlikely to ever happen on screen. Nonetheless, Amy has the freedom to start anew and live her life properly, which means a great deal to her, but is also a huge gift for Frank, who has lost so much and killed so many, to be able to give.
