MCU: 10 Netflix Mistakes The Disney Plus TV Shows MUST Avoid
1. Falling Out The MCU Timeline
So the Defenders come reluctantly together and say to Stick "Why can't The Avengers save New York?" And Stick scoffs and says "Pah! Those assholes are too busy fighting each other!" (ie Civil War, which came out virtually the same time)
Okay that never happened. But wouldn't that and other throw-away references to the MCU have been cool? And yet, past the first couple of seasons, the Defender-verse fell out of touch with the MCU in a big way.
Let's not accept Nick Fury's talk of a multiverse as an excuse. Daredevil and co started out tight with the movies and should have remained tight. Disregarding pivotal movie events such as the 'snap' with zero explanation was a real insult to fans, whose attentiveness towards continuity is mammoth because that's exactly what the MCU wanted from them in the first place.
Disney Plus has the opportunity to create some great new new story arcs, but the big picture must always been taken into account. The moment things drop out of sync, viewers will immediately gain the impression the writers either no longer care or have turned extremely self-righteous. The shows, for all their potentially great intent, must be portrayed as humble equals to their larger more explosive cousins. Only then will it feel like a true character universe.
