3. Daredevil Season 1

The one that started it all also remains one of the benchmarks for the Netflix Marvel Universe. It's difficult to overstate just how much of a game-changer this was back in 2015, being so different to every other MCU product out there - the two TV shows at that point, Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter, were more in line with what you'd expect - but even without that context, it more than holds up.

Charlie Cox gives a haunted take on Matt Murdock that'll make you forget Ben Affleck ever suited up as The Man Without Fear, and even better is Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk, who manages to give a performance of such ferocity, such menace, and yet such nuance that no MCU villain had then managed to come close to, and few have since either.

With a jet black darkness at its core, and a fierce rivalry between Daredevil and Fisk for Hell's Kitchen's soul, it merges superhero action with epic crime drama to wonderful effect. Like most shows, it could do with a little editing down, but most of it is so gripping it's never too much of an issue, and if the performances and storyline don't do it, the jaw-dropping action certainly will.
