MCU What If...? - 10 Biggest Takeaways From Episode 4
1. A Taste Of The Multiverse Of Madness
Needless to say, this kind of dark, incredibly creepy tone isn’t what MCU audiences have come to expect over the last 13 years. This was something of a shock to the system, but in a very, very good way, as the fourth instalment was arguably the best episode of the series so far.
This is in keeping with just about everything that has been said about Doctor Strange’s second solo film so far. Sam Raimi has been brought in to direct, it has been called the scariest movie the MCU has ever seen, and Elisabeth Olsen herself has said that fans aren’t ready for what they’re about to see.
This all sounds reminiscent of the surprisingly dark fourth episode of What If…?. It could be that the Multiverse of Madness has a similar feel, and could potentially lean into it even further. Should that be the case, you will likely hear very few, if any complaints from the fans of the MCU.
Phase Four is by and large exploring new and exciting stories and formats moving forward in the franchise, and if this episode is anything to go by, a darker Doctor Strange movie with more of a horror overtone could be incredible.
