8. An Absolute Point
In Loki, no longer than several weeks ago, MCU fans were introduced to the concept of the Time Variance Authority. He Who Remains closely monitored the Sacred Timeline to eliminate any deviance from his own narrative for the universe, however now that he is dead, this is no longer the case.
The MCU has shattered into countless different timelines and realities, some of which are being explored through What If…?, and while free will is seemingly now allowed for all in the universe where before it was limited by Kang the Conqueror’s Variant, there are still some things that cannot be changed.
This whole episode is based around Doctor Strange doing absolutely anything he can to stop the death of Christine Palmer from happening, but according to The Ancient One, this is an Absolute Point in time, and simply must happen. Whether Strange drove over the bridge or not, took Christine for pizza or to a fancy dinner, or even completely ignored her, she died in every different situation.
This begs the question, what other Absolute Points are there throughout the multiverse? We now live in an MCU of unlimited possibilities, but are there some things that are still destined to happen no matter what?
