MCU What If...? - 10 Biggest Takeaways From Episode 4

3. A Future Villain?

What If...? Doctor Strange
Marvel Studios

Strange Supreme may have destroyed his entire universe in episode four, however there is one detail that simply cannot be ignored. He seemingly didn’t die himself. He was encased in some sort of protective crystal casing, but there is nothing to suggest that he actually died.

With the multiverse breaking wide open at the conclusion of Loki, with characters from What If…? rumoured to show up in the Multiverse of Madness, and the sequel yet to have a confirmed main villain, could it be that Strange Supreme will return in the future?

Fans have just had a tiny window into how incredible a battle between two Sorcerer Supremes could be, and in live action this could really elevate the Multiverse of Madness into something even more special. What more madness could come of the multiverse than Doctor Strange fighting the evil half of himself?

It may even be that this character has already appeared in live action, albeit in just a trailer so far. There was certainly something off about Doctor Strange in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, and it seems out of character for him to risk so much for Peter Parker. Could this be the evil version of Strange, somehow trying to break open the multiverse and find a reality in which he and Christine could be together? Or to return to his old reality before he completely destroyed it?
