How I Met Your Mother: 10 Episodes Proving It's Past Its Best

9. The Slutty Pumpkin Returns

Although season 7 is one of HIMYM's highest-rated seasons, we begin to tread once again into shark infested waters. One of the funniest episodes of HIMYM's freshman season introduced the only non-matriarchal mystery girl in the show's history, and she was dressed as a slutty pumpkin in 2001 at the apartment's rooftop Halloween party. Hitting it off instantly with Ted, she left his number on a Kit Kat that was given to a trick or treater by mistake. Since that year and up to season 7's "The Slutty Pumpkin Returns," Ted returned to the party dressed in his Hanging Chad "costume," hoping to see this girl again. Flash forward 10 years, where in a likely attempt to just put the mystery to rest so as not to repeat the infamous Pineapple Incident incident (yes that's a real thing), Ted found the store that sold the slutty pumpkin costume and tracked down Naomi, and the two pick up immediately where they left off. Only problem €“ she's overly annoying and a terrible kisser. They break up at the same rooftop party where they originally met because Naomi has pretty much the same ill will about Ted, and life went on. In a much funnier shark jump, Barney, the overly patriotic and Canadian bashing Barney, finds out he's 1/4 Canadian and Robin uses the opportunity for some sweet sweet revenge, culminating in a hilarious one-on-one battle between Uncle Sam Barney and Canadian mountie Barney. The conclusion of the Slutty Pumpkin plot point was incredibly disappointing, but the Barney storyline, while out of nowhere, was one to be remembered.
