The moment weve been aching for since 2005, of course this was going to come top. Cajoled into chatting to the pretty girl he spotted earlier, a reluctant Ted begins the conversation that will change his life. We've all imagined how it could happen and in many way the real ending comes pretty close. Successfully weaving in all their previous almost-run-ins together into one coherent moment (the wrong lecture fiasco, Teds brief relationship with Cindy, the St Patricks Day party and more all play a part), the meeting of Ted and the Mother was damn near perfect. The yellow umbrella proved as important as has been suggested, with its journey and owner (the initials on it, TM, apply to both Ted and the Mother, Tracy McConnell) providing a key bonding point for the couple. Underpinned by the audience having just seen Tracys inevitable fate, its a moment ripe with emotion that more than lives up to the nine years it took to get there.
