Mindhunter Season 2: 9 Serial Killers Confirmed
4. William Henry Hance
William Henry Hance was a soldier convicted in 1978 of murdering three women near military bases.
Prior to his apprehension, however, he attempted to throw the police off the scent by pretending to be acting as part of a group of white vigilantes called the "Forces of Evil", who would keep murdering black women if another serial killer operating at the time, Carlton Gary aka the Stocking Strangler, wasn't caught.
Hance was eventually captured by FBI profiler Robert K. Ressler, the inspiration for Mindhunter's Bill Tench, which should certainly create some fascinating tension when the two come face-to-face in an upcoming episode.
Hance was electrocuted by electric chair in 1994.
