Mindhunter Season 2 Review: 5 Ups & 3 Downs
Downs
3. Too Many Killers, Too Little Time
Before getting into the specifics, it's worth noting that all of the downs are rather minor gripes that only marginally spoiled the overall enjoyment of the show. You can probably expect them to be ironed out by the time the show returns.
Having said that, the show seemingly bit more that in could chew in season 2 with the sheer amount of killers on our screens. BTK killer's vignettes, while interesting back in season 1, have managed to lose some of their shine, and the whole plotline started to feel a little underwhelming.
Most of the season was dedicated to the Atlanta Child Murders case, which saw its conclusion at the very end, however, the creators also decided to pepper in an assortment of other famous killers, including Charles Manson and Son of Sam. While both Manson's and Son of Sam's scenes were engaging, well written and kept the viewer on their toes, they went by very quickly.
After spending so much time on Ed Kemper last season, restricting such interesting characters to couple short minutes seems like a waste of potential. Especially Damon Herriman's outstanding performance as Manson warranted more screen time.
