Mindhunter Season 2 Review: 5 Ups & 3 Downs

2. Wasting Anna Torv's Potential

Apart from Holden, Bill and Ed Kemper, doctor Wendy Carr was one of the most intriguing characters the first season had to offer. With her role not being too extensive, many may have expected to learn more about her in season 2. In some ways, we did, but in others, not at all.

Wendy's storyline this season was mostly centred around her sexuality and making her first steps towards becoming a more hands-on part of the whole operation. Both of those plots seemed fine on the surface, but after completing the season, they retrospectively feel rather underwhelming.

During the course of 9 episodes, we learnt that doctor Carr was recovering from a toxic relationship. With Kay, she constantly kept putting her feet in her mouth and went too deep, too fast. Her throwing out that magazine at the very end marked a lack of actual development and return to square zero. It wouldn't at all be surprising if we never see Kay again, much like Debbie, Holden's season 1 love interest.

With regards to the Bureau, this season Wendy wanted to become more involved with the practical, not scientific side of the work, however, her interviews came out as rather underwhelming and in the end she hadn't achieved much. She was simply no match for Holden.

Anna Torv is an excellent actress, but in season 2 she still hasn't gotten many opportunities to showcase it. Her storyline wasn't a total miss, but it didn't keep up with the rest of the show. Not to mention that she hardly even appeared in the finale. Here's hoping that season 3 will finally give her a chance to shine.

Agnieszka Zablotna hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
