Moon Knight Trailer Breakdown: 11 Things You Must See
8. Voice On The Phone
What sends Steven into a panic during the trailer is the mysterious voice on the phone naming him Marc. The close captions reveal this voice belongs to May Calamawy's character, Layla, who is presumed to become an MCU version of the character, Marlene Alraune.
Marlene and Marc go back to pre-Khonshu days during Spector's employment under Bushman. The two spent time together and eventually developed a romantic relationship whilst Marlene would help Marc develop the Moon Knight persona. Whilst the existence of Marlene may sway Marc's reasoning on returning to America, it also alludes to the existence of another faithful companion of Moon Knight, Frenchie.
Jean-Paul 'Frenchie' Duchamp is a French mercenary who was also under the employment of Bushman as well as also being present during the Egypt mission. After blindly devoting himself to Marc's fight for Khonshu, Frenchie becomes a formidable ally showcasing useful abilities such as expert piloting, high standard marksmanship and fluency in hand to hand combat.
With Layla and possibly Frenchie debuting later on in the series, Marvel hasn't forgotten about the few allies the chaotic Moon Knight can cooperate with effectively.
