Mr. Robot: 21 WTF Moments That Left Fans Stunned

If White Rose is the big bad of Mr. Robot, then Fernando Vera definitely has the second place spot firmly secured. The verbose drug dealer loves to spin a yarn that is seemingly going nowhere, but almost always leads to something bad happening, mostly to Elliot and the people he loves.

Vera's plan to try and break Elliot, then remould him in a way that benefits his lofty ambitions was always a strange idea. However, the execution of his plan was simply perfect. By using notes created by Elliot's psychiatrist, Krista, Vera begins to peel back the layers behind the creation of Mr. Robot. He forces Krista to ask Elliot questions that help him remember how and why Mr. Robot was created.

One of the consistent themes throughout the show's run has been the strong relationship between Elliot and his father. However, the one theme that truly trumps that is that Elliot's mind is not only playing tricks on him, it's also playing tricks on the audience. Which is why the reveal that Mr. Robot was created to protect him and Darlene from their sexually abusive father was so heartbreaking to watch.

Rami Malek does a fantastic job of showing Elliot relive the horror and fear that he had for his father. Literally everything Elliot believes has been a lie and every time it's been revealed it's obviously hurt him. However, this definitely felt like the one that false narrative that he couldn't come back from.
