Narcos Season 2 Review: 8 Ups & 3 Downs

2. The Voiceover Narration Is Still Pointless

In so much as Steve provides the layman with an "in" to this unspeakably harsh world, he also arguably ends up patronising the audience at times with the return of the widely-criticised voiceover narration from season one.

While it is at least scaled-back a little this time, it's still mostly unnecessary and ends up feeling like a lazy way to tell us what characters are thinking rather than allowing viewers to piece it together for themselves.

Sure, the occasional dollop of added historical context doesn't hurt, but for the most part the narration is hugely unnecessary and encroaches on the lived-in feel of this world.
