2. It's Basically A Very Long Dick Joke

The humor in the series can at times be off-putting, as it never goes beyond the initial drawings of penises on the teachers' cars. Yes, it smartly revolves around what teenagers would consider interesting and funny, but there's not enough smarter, more complex jokes to redeem this overt focus on reproductive organs and bodily fluids.

If someone doesn't enjoy that type of humor, it's very probable that he/she'll find the show hard to enjoy. The absurdity of the premise of the American Vandal never develops into something more. The jokes of the WayBack Boys are intentionally unfunny and maybe all of the humor in the show is purposely based around penises, so that it would more resemble high school jokes. If that's the case, however, the creators went to great lengths to make the show more realistic, but less watchable.

And to be honest, it's hard to believe that this was their intention.
