Netflix's Friends From College Review: 2 Ups And 4 Downs

1. It's Just Not Funny

The show is good for a few laughs, but clearly not much more. It's over-reliant on cliches and used up methods, which the creators didn't see the need to expand upon, since they already worked numerous times. There's a lot of montages, slow-motion scenes and bad jokes. What's especially lazy on the side of the authors is that they clearly imply that these bad jokes are intentional - the viewer isn't supposed to like these people, so they need to fail.

This however should be countered with some good jokes, since the whole idea of watching shows is not to hate the people on the screen, but to at least care for them. Here even the "sins" of the heroes don't validate their misfortunes. It should be fun to see them fail, they should fail in hilarious ways. The problem is that every consequence is predictable and the plot of the whole episode is often easy to predict after the first few minutes.
