1. The Voice Cast Are Simply Brilliant

Fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra all know that the characters were brought to life through emotional and humorous performances from the talented cast members. The mixture of actors and performers from different backgrounds and ages in television, films and video games has helped to show off the amazing skills the cast have and Voltron: Legendary Defender is no exception.

With our five young heroes taking up arms, their age differences and roles throughout the show are all brilliantly acted from cast members who have a surprising mix of backgrounds that seems to add to their roles. Josh Keaton, Jeremy Shada and Steven Yeun have previously acted in animated roles in shows like Green Lantern: The Animated Series (Keaton), Adventure Time (Shada) and The Legend of Korra (Steven Yeun) and play on similar roles with some surprising hidden depths. Tyler Labine and Bex Taylor-Klaus haven't acted in animated productions before, but they're able to stand alongside the other cast members with Labine playing another comedic role after Tucker and Dale vs. Evil and Taylor-Klaus expanding her portfolio from her active roles in Arrow and the Scream television series.

While I have already talked about Princess Allura, I wanted to add a quick mention to Kimberly Brooks as her talents from shows like Steven Universe go unnoticed. From the forceful and strong antagonist Jasper to the soft spoken and caring royal, it was a surprise to see just how much range she can offer and be able to add depth to this particular character.
