Netflix's Marvel Universe: 10 Major Reveals From Comic-Con 2016
7. The "Wu-Tangification" Of The MCU
As a way of showing that this is going to be different from Daredevil and Jessica Jones, the trailer for Luke Cage was accompanied by ‘Ol Dirty Bastard’s ‘Shimmy Shimmy Ya’, showcasing the diversity of this series, with Marvel even allowing a rare F-word into the clip (although it's part of the song, rather than a character saying it).
Apparently, music is indeed set to play a big part in the series, which at Comic-Con was referred to as the "Wu-Tangification of the Marvel Universe" due to the use of the songs in the series, with showrunner Cheo Coker adding that he "wanted the 13-episodes to feel like an album," with every episode being named after a song by rap duo Gang Starr. Coker, a former music journalist, is probably the right man to handle that, and it should ensure this stands apart from its stablemates.
Coker also uttered the line of SDCC so far when talking about Luke Cage in the context of real-life events, saying: "The world is ready for a bulletproof black man.”
