Netflix's YOU: Every Main Character Ranked From Worst To Best
3. Guinevere Beck
Portrayed by Elizabeth Lail in the first series and one appearance in the second, Guinevere Beck is portrayed as being a kind, clever and caring individual that absolutely has Joe pulled in hook, line and sinker. From their first chance encounter in Joe's bookstore, Beck is at the centre of everything for Joe.
A wannabe writer who ends up riding the most unbelievably meteoric rise over the course of next to no time, what makes Beck such an interesting character to watch is how the show is able to spill her secrets as Joe discovers them, meaning the audience learns about her as he does. This makes Joe's eventual delusion and distrust towards Beck become that little bit more believable for audiences.
So whilst Guinevere Beck is undeniably a complex character with plenty of layers and secrets, and the fact that her skills and traits for uncovering the truth are eventually the things that lead to her meeting her grizzly demise, the show never really dares to divert her character away from being just inherently good. The darker side to characters like Love just feel more at home in a show like YOU and help produce a slightly more interesting relationship with Joe.
