Obi-Wan Kenobi Part I & II Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs

5. The Thrilling Action

For most of their run, Parts I and II feature little action, with the vast majority of the conflict being psychological and internalised.

That being said, the action we do get to see is fantastic. Fast-paced, brilliantly choreographed, and aided by Natalie Holt's atmospheric score, it's at once tense and high stakes, and effectively explores how Obi-Wan is cut off from the Force and down to using a blaster to fight.

The fact that Obi-Wan is less powerful makes each fight sequence feel genuinely threatening, as he's more easily hurt and uncomfortably out of his element.

It's great to see the series use its action to add something to the story, and even greater to see it's found a way to make Obi-Wan feel like he's in actual danger, despite the fact he's obviously making it out of the show alive.

And now that he's retrieved his lightsaber and tapped back into the Force to save Leia, the action's only going to get better. Especially with so many villains on his tail.
