After appearing in flashbacks during the show's first season, Barbara Hershey's Cora swept into season two to antagonise Storybrooke in an effort to win Regina back on her quest for power. As one of the series' most important villains, Cora's story has managed to continue on even in the wake of her death, with more revelations about her past and connections to other characters still being unveiled. From her relationship with Rumpel to her time as the Queen of Hearts in Wonderland to abandoning a daughter who would become the Wicked Witch, Cora has quite a legacy that's bound to be revisited further. Having had a profound effect on the lives of characters like Regina, Snow White, Rumpel and Anastasia, Cora's way with words and mastery of manipulation were often more effective than outright displays of power. Considering, too, that nearly all of her actions were born from the belief that love is weakness and through the removal of her own heart, she stands as quite a complex piece of Once Upon A Time's mythology.
