Only Fools And Horses: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

2. Season 3

Only Fools And Horses
BBC

When it comes to the original format, season 3 had it perfected. Ill-fated Trotter brother escapades and the colourful characters they try to swindle along the way, and it's that supporting cast that truly elevates this season above the others.

Old favourites Trigger and Boycie return, but there's also the introduction of bent copper Roy Slater, gullible lorry driver Denzil and his ever-suffering wife Corrine, and Rodney's "friend" Mickey Pierce. Corrine in particular was an instant favourite thanks to Eva Mottley's excellent performance but wasn't seen after her sole episode following the actress's tragic suicide, and it was decided not to recast her out of respect.

The series is once again filled with hilarious moments crammed one on top of the other, such as Del desperately trying to outwit a serial axe-murderer, the foiling of Slater, Rodney finally confronting Trigger about why he calls him Dave, Del's business/romantic dealings with the totally-out-of-his-league Miranda, the list for this season is practically endless.

When an actor can make the phrase "what have you got, a Wendy House?" one of the highlights of an episode, that is top class acting and flawless writing coming together to make pure comedy gold.
