Orange Is The New Black: 10 Characters More Interesting Than Piper

Orange Is The New Black has broken new ground in a few different ways. Alongside House of Cards, it is one of the biggest success stories of the Netflix €˜episode-dump€™ model, helping to pave the way for future shows like Unbreakable Kimmy Scmidt and Daredevil. It also highlights life in an American prison, and isn€™t afraid to deal with the realities and hardships of that. It€™s difficult to think of another show that has such a strong and diverse female cast, ones who are very morally complex and much more along the €˜antihero€™ line normally reserved solely for men. Leading the way for the past two seasons has been Piper Chapman, the lead character of the show, whose real-life story it's all actually based on. While season 1 focused mostly on her, the second run did more work in expanding the cast, although she was still the axis it all revolved around. While Piper was the way into the show, and Taylor Schilling has done excellent work in portraying the way she has been gradually broken by the system and adapted to survive, the way the other characters have been fleshed out mean that while she may still be the de facto lead, she€™s by no means the most interesting person we follow in Litchfield Prison.
