Orange Is The New Black: 5 Ups And 5 Downs From Season 3

8. Alex And Piper Reunited - Down

Alex and Piper were separated last season, and whether as a direct result of that or not the latter€™s character suffered. It was easy to understand why they decided to bring Alex back in season 3 then. Piper was the one who caused Alex to return to Litchfield, and the show works out this conflict by having them engage in an angry, twisted relationship, before they realise that they do love each other, but then Piper gets bored of her and leaves her for Stella. It worked insofar that it showed Piper can work without Alex, as her story got better once it left the relationship stuff further behind and instead focused more on her criminal empire selling used underwear. The whole on-again, off-again, love-to-hate-but-hate-to-love saga between the two had already been done, and the show probably didn€™t need to revisit again.
