12. Oprah Winfrey Comes To Litchfield
Ruiz calls everybody to the chapel. There, she and other Latinas prepare a little show for the inmates. The guards-turned-hostages are presented and abused by the inmates. Before the proper show begins, the women take out a box filled with phones and organize a giveaway, reminiscent of the one on Oprah.
Instead of putting the gifts under the seats, they throw phones to everybody in the chapel, shouting: "You get a phone! You get a phone!" Clearly they mock the show, but also have a little fun with its format. Their actions are a response to the need for entertainment and normalcy - they would probably be watching the show in their homes and dreaming about being in the audience had they not been to Litchfield.
