Orange Is The New Black: Top 10 Moments Of Season 3

6. Red Is Back, B*tches

Speaking of everyone€™s favourite Russian, cheers were heard all around when the welcome surprise of Red re-taking over the kitchen came to pass. Though Gloria and the Latinas were hilarious during their tenure as the kitchen staff, there is, after all, nobody quite like Red. Though it started as empowering moment for the chef extraordinaire, things quickly took a sour turn for Red when the MCC takeover meant that they would no longer be serving anything resembling €˜food€™ at Litchfield, a decision unfortunately timed with Red being reinstated as head cook. Cue the understated hilarity of Red repeatedly announcing to anyone who would listen that she, in fact, had nothing to do with the food, at all, whatsoever. While mostly just another way to show the negative effects of MCC and their constant cost-cutting, as well as providing fodder for the equally funny kosher-food arc, Red€™s takeover and earnest dissatisfaction culminates in another of Season Three€™s more heartwarming moments - Red€™s dinners, and her pride therein, for a lottery assortment of inmates to give them a small taste of real food once in a while, showing the prison as its own sort of fragile community rather than a purely isolating and partitioning force, as was the case for most of the season.
