Ozark: Ranking Every Main Character Worst To Best
9. Jacob Snell
Played by the always underrated Peter Mullan, Jacob was a local heroin dealer and crime lord. He was a calm and rational man who controlled the Ozarks with ease and respect alongside his wife Darlene. The pair quickly strike a pact with the Byrdes and by extension the cartel, a pact they come to regret when things start getting complicated for them.
Jacob is a proud and defensive man, he loves his home and doesn't look kindly on strangers. That being said, he thinks things through and doesn't act rashly compared to his wife. Jacob would often act as Darlene's calming influence and if that failed, Jacob would work to clean up any mess Darlene had brought to their family such as her impulsive decision to kill Del.
Married for decades, Jacob confessed to Marty that Darlene's increasingly erratic behaviour was beginning to scare him. Their relationship continues to devolve heavily in the second season until it becomes clear she is too dangerous to be kept alive. In one of the best scenes of the show, Darlene and Jacob go for a walk in the woods, a walk where both of them are planning to kill the other by the end of it. Unfortunately for Jacob, Darlene gets there first.
