Peaky Blinders: 10 Best Characters Who Appeared After Season One

9. Aberama Gold

With Aberama Gold, Aiden Gillen brought us yet another great husky-toned character that we're just not sure whether we should trust or not. This hitman-for-hire joined Peaky Blinders in the fourth season (meeting his grisly end just one season later), but let's rewind things for a moment.

Tommy Shelby came face to face with foe Luca Changretta in season four, and needing all the help he could get, he decided to hire Aberama and his men as a bit of extra muscle. The decision paid off as Aberama put a stop to an assassination attempt in motion.

Flash forward to season five and Aberama's son, Bonnie Gold, was murdered by leader of the Billy Boys - Jimmy McCavern. Aberama set out to get his revenge but died in the process after he was stabbed.

Amidst all the bloodshed lay one of the most intriguing aspects of Aberama's character: his love for Polly Gray. As matriarch of the Shelby family, Polly rarely allowed herself to show vulnerability but as a character, Aberama facilitated that.

Following his death, we expect Polly to become more hardened and ruthless than ever - perhaps mistaking the gift of vulnerability for weakness. This formidable exterior is something she's going to need to deal with Michael's betrayal in season six. Of course, we're uncertain as to how the tragic passing of actress Helen McCrory will have affected Polly's planned story going forwards.

Unlike Tommy, Aberama doesn't have a public reputation and legalities to uphold and the freedom this granted was also a great difference to see, allowing for some explosive moments.
