Peaky Blinders: 10 Best Characters Who Appeared After Season One

7. Luca Changretta

Throughout the seasons, Tommy Shelby has gone up against some formidable foes and Luca Changretta was certainly a standout. Portrayed by Adrien Brody, Luca Changretta served as the main antagonist during Peaky Blinders' fourth season.

This Italian-American mobster journeyed over to Birmingham to avenge his father and brother's murders at the hands of the Peaky Blinders. Things didn't go exactly to plan. In Luca's perfect world, he would have returned to New York with the job being done but Arthur and his revolver put a stop to that. Luca's plan wasn't successful but it wasn't wholly a failure either as he took some causalities down with him.

This leads us onto what made Luca one of the show's best characters. The Peaky Blinders are constantly finding themselves in situations where we as the viewer are left wondering, 'How are they going to survive this?' but none more so than in season four. We really suspected that Tommy had met his match.

John's murder in season four, episode two set the tone. It was a major death that teased that there was only worse to come. Thankfully, Arthur's death was a ruse but we did spend half of the season mourning him before the eventual reveal.

Luca both challenged and damaged the Peaky Blinders in a way that they hadn't been before. It also helps that Brody's performance was incredible. He'd certainly mastered that Godfather-esque whisper that's certain to haunt your nightmares. We certainly wouldn't mess with the Changrettas after watching this season unfold.
