Peaky Blinders: 10 Best Characters Who Appeared After Season One
8. Isaiah Jesus
Isaiah Jesus may not be a Shelby, but he is a fully fledged member of the Peaky Blinders. Originally portrayed by Jordan Bolger, the character made his first appearance in season two of the show. Isaiah's father, Jeremiah Jesus, was a long time friend of the Shelby family but it was through his friendship with Michael that Isaiah gained membership to the gang.
Jordan made his final appearance as the character at the end of season four. Unfortunately, Peaky Blinders' shooting schedule no longer fit alongside his own and so whilst it wasn't his choice, he had to bow out of the show. Daryl McCormack took over the role for season five and props to the actor, because the transition was seamless.
Isaiah is something of a diamond in the rough, on the periphery of being a great character. His season two storyline provided us with some insight into race relations in the 1920s. If you'll recall, Isaiah and Michael were attacked at the Marquis of Lorne pub after a patron refused to drink whilst Isaiah remained in the pub.
The character is also sharp-witted and an effective, reliable comrade. Despite this, Isaiah has been used mainly as a means of muscle since the end of season two and rarely gets time to shine which is a shame as he's been portrayed by two great actors. We'd like to see Isaiah gain some more independence in season six.
