Peaky Blinders: Each Main Character Ranked From Worst To Best

14. Father John Hughes

Peaky Blinders
BBC

The criminally underrated Paddy Considine brought one of the show's greatest villains to life as Father John Hughes. It is a testament to the actor's talents that he ranks so highly on this list having only appeared in four episodes.

Hughes was one of the central figures of Season Three's convoluted Russian plotline in which he was a representative of The Economic League while also reporting to Russia. A general rule with that season is you'll enjoy it more the less you dwell on that storyline.

That doesn't take away from how incredibly vile he was. A man who was seemingly untouchable, Hughes could say and do whatever he wanted to Tommy and he did so with a smile. He stands as easily the best part of that season.

A heavily implied molester, the fear you will feel when Hughes abducts Tommy's son is immeasurable. The fatal fight between he and Michael is only as tense as it is because we know how terrible and nasty Hughes can be. There aren't that many characters as blatantly evil as this.
