Peep Show Series 9: 9 Things We Hope To See

9. The Return Of Alan Johnson

Enough to make Mark question his very sexuality, Johnson was Mark's boss at JLB. He is suave, sophisticated and has a voice that would make a Wolverine purr. Last we saw of Johnson, he had managed to con Mark out of £2000 in an ill-fated attempt at starting up a Consultancy Agency. Naturally this didn't end well for Mark. We haven't seen much of Alan Johnson since Series 6, though in Series 7 he was seen to have thrown away his sobriety. Absent through Series 8, it's time the writers brought back actor Paterson Joseph one last time. Like Super Hans, Johnson is a character that works best in small doses. Too much and the impact of this larger than life character is lost, but if they strike the right balance he can bring something very special to the show. Some of the best Peep Show moments have included Johnson. From Mark's botched attempt at driving through to offering Jeremy the princely sum of £530 to sleep with Big Suze - "Every man has his price, and I believe yours to be £530" - Johnson has been a driving force for the show at times. As we look to Series 9, Johnson might have some pointers for Mark as he attempts to finally publish 'Business Secrets of the Pharaohs'. Maybe he will resurrect JLB from the ashes and help Mark get back on his feet. There's always the chance he will end up in a band with Super Hans and Jeremy, but that may be a step too far.
