There are few things fans respond to quite as well as an entertaining vampire TV show with a romance element and a brooding, handsome neck-biter who makes you think more of eternal pleasure rather than eternal damnation in the immortal pit of hell. It worked for Buffy, it worked for Buffy and True Blood and it absolutely propelled The Vampire Diaries into the hearts and minds of an army of fans.
It may have ended back in 2017, but the love triangle at the heart of the show - far better than Twilight's romantic dynamic - still has a grip on fans as devastating as Ian Somerhalder's piercing eyes. The show will never end for true fans and the eight seasons will continue to provide the blood and passion that's now missing from our regular viewing schedules.
