22. The Bear And The Maiden Fair (Season 3, Episode 7)
This episode is well known for the ending, where Brienne is forced to fight a bear with a wooden sword while everybody around her sings the song whose title is used for this episode. Shes ultimately saved by Jaime Lannister, who does his first admirable thing in the entire series and marks a change in his entire character. The episode featured some excellent direction from Breaking Bad producer Michelle MacLaren, who made her directorial debut for Thrones. Elsewhere, Theon loses his little Greyjoy in a skin-crawlingly awful scene, Talisa reveals to Robb that shes pregnant, and Arya leaves the Brotherhood Without Banners and is subsequently captured by The Hound.
