9. A Golden Crown (Season 1, Episode 6)
This episode featured the very first death of a featured character, as Viserys Targaryen was given his golden crowd by Khal Drogo at the very end. People cheered rather than recoiled in horror, because Viserys was pretty much the worst character on the show (keeping the seat warm for Joffrey). The best parts of A Golden Crown are the events in the Vale, from Tyrion trying to convince Mord to let him out, to his confessions, to the fight between Bronn and Ser Vardis Egen. Hearing Tyrion hiss yesssss! after Bronn lands a blow is quite hilarious, as well as Bronns response to Lysa when she says he fights without honor. No he did, referring to the now-deceased Ser Vardis.
