Ranking Every Arrowverse Big Bad From Worst To Best

1. Reverse-Flash

Appeared In: The Flash (Season 1)

They say that every great hero is defined by their greatest villain. Well, it doesn't get any better than the Reverse-Flash. The man in the yellow suit haunted Barry Allen throughout his young life and left us all trying to figure out his true identity. As a result, The Flash's freshman season wasn't just a superhero show, it was a compelling mystery that kept us hooked right until the very end.

After travelling through time to kill a young Barry, Eobard Thawne ended up trapped in the past. In a beautiful case of dramatic irony, the only person who could help him was The Flash. But as he had erased the Scarlet Speedster's heroic destiny from existence (by killing his mother), Eobard had to mentor his archenemy, helping him become the hero he despised so much. This led to a season-long arc in which the villain became a father-figure to the hero (and all of Team Flash). And by plotting his enemies' future downfall, Thawne ended up growing quite fond of them.

Tom Cavanagh delivered a masterful performance as the mentor antagonist, being warm and encouraging in one moment and nothing short of chilling in the next. The first Big Bad of The Flash is what all of the Arrowverse shows should aspire to create, and he set the bar so high that no other villain has ever come close to replicating the impression he made.
