12. Ice Age
The only short to feature significant live action elements makes Ice Age instantly stand out against the other shorts. A couple are moving into their new apartment when they discover an old freezer left behind with a miniature civilisation developing within. The couple get to watch the civilisation evolve at a great speed as they go from the ice age to the space age.
The short is charming and is short enough that it doesn't overdo the idea, however it is the live action couple that don't work so well. Hollywood familiars Topher Grace and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are more than capable actors, but they really struggle to find a tone here. What is clearly meant to be a comedic short ends up being a cringe fest as Grace and Winstead attempt to interact with the freezer and make quips.
A focus on the civilisation in the freezer would have been a better choice rather than the awkward interplay between the two live action characters.
