Ranking All 25 The Simpsons Season Finales
11. Poppa's Got A Brand New Badge
Season: 13
"Isn't that stealing?" asks Carl during a smash and grab during season thirteen's Poppa's Got A Brand New Badge. "No, it's just looting" is Lenny's response. This comes after the pair have crashed their cars into one another during a blackout caused by Homer plugging in a singing Santa figurine during the height of the Summer power crunch.
Overall, Poppa's Got A Brand New Badge is a pretty solid Simpsons episode. In fact, probably the only reason it missed out on being in the top ten overall on the list of season finales is that it lacks a certain "event" feel that a season finale should have, and it's a bit of a retread.
The episode sees Homer start his own security agency, Springshield, after the carnage of the blackout and ensuring looting, which is very reminiscent of Homer The Vigilante from season five, in which Homer takes charge of the Neighborhood Watch during the reign of a particularly sneaky cat burglar.
The earlier episode is the better of the two, but Poppa's Got A Brand New Badge is still a worthy outing with a rather inspired spoof of The Sopranos opening credits, and the return of a gun totting Maggie in a nod to the events of Who Shot Mr. Burns (Part Two).
