The Ned-liest Catch sees Simpson neighbor Ned Flanders and Bart's long-time teacher Edna Krabappel dating after Ned saved Mrs. K from falling from a ladder.
After losing wife Maude much earlier in the series, Ned spent a lot of time as a single dad, with the occasional love interest rolling through town. The pairing of the goody-two shoes owner of the Leftorium with the smart-mouthed elementary school teacher shouldn't have worked, but strangely enough, it did.
The romance was cut short with the passing of Marcia Wallace in late 2013, but this was the episode that started it, and the odd couple pairing would go on to be one of the better late-series match-ups.
The Ned-Liest Catch has the distinction of being the second ever season finale cliffhanger of the series. At the end of the episode, viewers were invited to vote as to whether Edna and Ned should stay together, with the results coming in the season opener the following year.
