18. You Kent Always Say What You Want

Who Shot Mr Burns
Fox

Season: 18

Originally entitled Kent State Massacre then changed to a parody of The Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want," season eighteen's final episode was actually part of a two episode airing that included a Simpsons style spoof of 24.

The episode also happened to be the 400th episode of the series, a major milestone, and was the last episode to air prior to The Simpsons Movie.

The episode sees anchorman Kent Brockman fined for swearing on air after Homer accidentally spills a cup of coffee in his lap, and Flanders complains to the FCC. Arnie Pye (the weather guy) takes over when Brockman is then demoted in the wake of the FCC's $10 million fine of the station.

Brockman starts broadcasting online at the behest of Lisa, causing a lot of grief for the Republican party, who find a unique way to get people to stop watching him: get him his old job back, which no one watched in the first place.

It's a pretty unique concept for the show, though entering into politics is always a gamble for the show and dates the episode a little.
